Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, has been termed as a saving grace for Bollywood multiple times for the past few years. The actor brought back cheers to the theatres with Anees Bazmee directorial Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Having been trolled for doing stereotypical roles, he has proved his mettle as an actor with his psychological-thriller Freddy. While, the actor is all set for the release of his upcoming movie Shehzaada, not many know that he will be turning a producer with film.

During an interaction with ETimes, Kartik opened up about why he took the decision and gave up on his remuneration as an actor to invest in the movie. While talking to Vickey Lalwani, he revealed that he had taken the fees for the movie, as initially he was a part of the film as an actor. However, he took the decision to return his remuneration and invest in the movie, after they were going through a crisis. He said, “Main pehle as a producer nahi aaya tha iss film mein. Pehle I had taken my fees and remuneration but then there was something, some crisis which was happening. Aur kyunki film kisi crisis se jhunjh rahi thi, they needed somebody to step up. So, I asked my producer that I’ll give up my money for the film and that is how this whole production thing and me becoming a co-producer on the film, woh pura credit wahan se aaya hai.” ALSO READ: OMG! When asked if he returned all his fees, Kartik said almost. He further added, “Ek tarike se film pe bhi bhaar bahut kam ho gaya, also yeh film jab sign ki thi tab, I think Bhool Bhulaiyaa bhi sign nahi thi. So dono film hand-in-hand chal rahi thi. Toh iska almost budget, thankfully, itna extravagant nahi tha, but because actioner hai, thode se action sequences hai toh usmein budget lagta hai. And there were certain issues jo, we were facing at one point, jiski wajah se woh mujhe give up karna pada. We are in a good spot, good situation right now.”

For the unversed, directed by Rohit Dhawan, Shehzada is the official Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020), which starred Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in lead roles.
